Our exclusive Logo Printing vs. Digital Printing

On our blog, we spend a lot of time highlighting our amazing custom products that allow athletic teams everywhere to show their team pride while ensuring that their players, coaches, and VIPs are all able to watch events in comfort and style. Athletic organizations everywhere have discovered our attractive and durable sideline chairs time out stools, and other great seating options.

One thing we’ve only briefly brushed upon before now is the difference between our printing process and that used by other athletic chair dealers. We take pride in creating custom products that feature vivid, bright logos and lettering. Our designs really stand out – something that’s important in a bustling gym or sports arena. Meanwhile, custom designs by other companies simply fall flat.

What makes our printing technique so different? At Athletic Seating, we do all of our printing in-house. We never send our merchandise out for printing. We opt to use traditional screen printing techniques. This sets us apart from companies who have switched to digital printing out of convenience.

For those who are unfamiliar with screen printing versus digital printing, here’s a quick primer. When we screen print a custom basketball chair for a customer, we create stencils for their design. Using these stencils (otherwise known as screens), we apply the ink to the surface of the chair. The process uses one stencil per color until the entire design is complete.

Digital printing, meanwhile, transfers your design through a computer which assists as the design is printed on the surface of the chair or stool. While digital printing sounds like the faster, more modern option, it results in a dull, matte finish that’s underwhelming and disappointing. It’s also harder for certain colors of digital ink to show up on darker backgrounds because the ink layers are thinner.

That’s why we opt to do it the old-fashioned way. Screen printing is ideal for high-vibrancy designs, as the ink is applied in thicker layers. This makes the colors brighter and gives your basketball chairs a glossier, laminated look than digital printing can offer. In our experience, screen printing packs a more powerful punch, is more versatile, and is an all-around better option.

An additional plus for screen printing is that it’s more cost-effective for a large number of printed items. This helps lower the cost of outfitting your gym with a brand-new lineup of personalized sideline chairs. Not ready to make an investment in high-quality team seating? No worries! We also screen print customized slip covers and eye-catching sponsor decals that are quickly removable after the game.

No matter which items you choose, our screen printing technique means that each design is just as durable as the product on which it’s printed. We’ve been customizing athletic seating for over 30 years and are proud that all of our products are made right here in the United States.
